Rack space is valuable. Rittal PDUs feature a slender extruded aluminum profile engineered specifically for tool-free, clip-in mounting into the zero-U space between the 19" rail and the side panel of Rittal enclosures. This leaves all 42U or 47U rack units completely free for servers, storage arrays, and network switches, while providing immediate, unhindered access to individual power cords.

Patented IEC Lock Sockets & Billing-Grade Energy Measurement

Accidental cord disconnection during routine maintenance is a primary cause of downtime. Rittal PDUs integrate a patented universal locking mechanism for standard IEC C13 and C19 plugs—locking cables securely without requiring proprietary cords. For colocation and internal chargebacks, Metered Plus and Managed models feature Class 1 (±1%) billing-grade revenue metering per outlet according to EN 62053-21, measuring voltage, current, active/apparent power, power factor, and harmonic distortion.

Integrated Type B RCM and Advanced Environmental Sensor Integration

To eliminate costly external earth leakage relays, Rittal PDUs integrate an AC/DC sensitive Residual Current Monitor (RCM Type B) that detects smooth DC leakage currents often generated by server power supplies. Furthermore, each PDU incorporates a dedicated CAN-bus port that directly connects up to eight CMC III plug-and-play sensors (temperature, humidity, water leak, and electronic door locks), transforming the PDU into a centralized rack management gateway.
