Preventing Destructive Dew-Point Condensation in Industrial Enclosures
In tropical, coastal, and outdoor environments with high humidity—such as Indonesia where relative humidity routinely exceeds 80%—temperature fluctuations between day and night cause air moisture to reach the dew point. Microscopic water droplets condense on cold busbars, PCB circuit boards, and terminal screws, causing catastrophic short circuits, insulation breakdown, and rapid contact corrosion. Rittal enclosure heaters eliminate this threat by keeping the interior temperature safely above the dew point at all times.
Self-Regulating PTC Ceramic Heating Technology
Rittal heaters utilize Positive Temperature Coefficient (PTC) ceramic resistor elements housed in aerodynamically optimized extruded aluminum profiles. The PTC technology provides inherent physical temperature limiting: as the heater warms up, its electrical resistance naturally increases, making the unit completely burn-out proof and energy self-regulating without requiring external thermal cutoff fuses.
Fan-Assisted Heaters for Large Switchgear Cabinets
For spacious modular enclosures such as the VX25, Rittal fan heaters (up to 800 W) integrate quiet, long-life axial fans that actively distribute warm air throughout the entire cabinet volume. This prevents cold zones at the bottom of the enclosure and ensures rapid, uniform dehumidification around incoming cable termination glands.
Precision Thermostats, Hygrostats, and Smart IoT Controls
Operating heaters continuously wastes energy and shortens component lifespan. Paired with Rittal mechanical thermostats (SK 3110) or digital electronic hygrostats (SK 3118), heating units activate only when internal cabinet temperature drops below the safe threshold or relative humidity rises above 65%. For automated plants, dual controllers send fault and status signals to SCADA and plant management networks.
